You may think whatever you want, but fashion is not about superficiality. It’s about expressing oneself. Some people write, some people paint. Some people express themselves through clothes and style. I get inspired by what people wear and dressing up in colorful chinos gets me going all day long.

Some people may find it outrageous or over the top. Then what ? How does that affect them ?
I just like to be myself, as stereotypical this might sound. Why would you hide behind a character that’s not yourself ? Don’t you wanna be proud of who you are, what you feel ? Spring is just around the corner now, so let me bring back the colors, and the hot bodies. I won’t waste any more minutes !

After giving back the reins of the german fashion house Jil Sander to its founder, Raf Simons will break away from the bling bling direction of John Galliano at Dior. The french house needed a new breath after the drama surrounding Galliano.

Raf Simons is going to bring his vast knowledge of color. A new femininity will spread its wings this July, in Paris, at Simons’s first show at Dior. I’m curious about what’s going to come out of this new direction for Dior. After Galliano’s long reign, it’s a whole new horizon for Christian Dior.

Sawasdee pi maï, sabaidi pi maï, happy new year 2555 !

One year ago, at the same time, I was in Vientiane, my last days of my trip in Thaïland and Laos. And what was the best way to end in a blaze of glory ?! Celebrate Pi Maï !

Some of you may not know Pi Maï (Songkran in Thaï). It’s the buddhist New Year in main of Southeast Asia’s countries (Laos, Thaïland, Combodia and Burma). Three days of celebration which fall on the 13th, 14th and 15th of April.

First time for me to be in Vientiane at this period of the year. I was so excited and in a hurry to join the big party. The scene was nothing less than pure liquid chaos during Pi Maï, the water festival. People wielded water pistols, water buckets, colored flour, and wet charcoal and aimed to increase the water content of every Lao and especially farangs (white tourists) around. As april is hot, it was refreshing to be doused with water (sometimes iced water).

After sunny March here in Paris the sun is always up and bright. It feels like already summer, or simply, what a relief after such a tough winter. I don’t know what happened in the “Ville des lumières” but it’s spun out of control. People dress so poorly. One more time, tank top X flip flops is NOT an appropriate city outfit. Even when it’s 45°C it’s still off limits. A tough winter doesn’t allow you to lose it all when it’s warmer, god dammit !

April under the sun, nothing can beat that. Enjoy the pre-summer ! To celebrate la fête du Printemps, we even dare use our most cherished china to go picnic in the woods. Let’s go play Little Red Cap and “voir le loup”.

It’s the tale of two men linked by the same brand. Louis Vuitton, the craftsman who catered to Empress Eugenie of France. Marc Jacobs, the tattooed kid from NY who reigns over the fashion world. What do they share ? The dedication and the talent to make Louis Vuitton one of the most prestigious brands.

It is fascinating to realize that Louis Vuitton, Monsieur Vuitton created all the patterns that are now worn all around the world more than a 100 years ago. The exhibition takes us back to this time when traveling was a journey in itself, when the rich and famous needed trunks to pack their belongings. The exhibition not only shows the trunks, but also what was carried around in them, dresses, umbrellas or hats.

Jump in time, and enter Marc Jacobs’ world : Mariah Carey, body building and his latest bag creations displayed in gigantic cupcake pans. It sometimes feels like sneaking into Jacobs’ tumblr.

Art Déco presents Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs until september. An art exhibition, magnificently staged though I would have enjoyed it more had it been longer.
